I have a small chest freezer, it's just my spouse and me, so it's perfect for our apartment. We had a stand up freezer before, it wasn't bad, but it opened up all the time and ruined our food.

A freezer is basically a cooler, and frozen food is essentially ice. I’d be surprised if it got much warmer than your fridge, assuming it wasn’t opened etc.
