How do you use linear velocity - Scripting Support - Roblox
To use the linear velocity, you need add an attachment inside the part as well have a linear velocity and then get the attachment0 property to that attachment, then from there you can mess with the properties. A tip is to have your parts massless so that it doesn’t affect the velocity too much with the heavy mass

Is BodyVelocity really that better than LinearVelocity ... - Roblox
Roblox added a new property to workspace called MoverRootConstraintBehaviour (I think it’s something like that) but apparently it improves LinearVelocity player replication with linear velocities, does this make it better?

What's the difference between LinearVelocity and VectorForce ... - Roblox
In physics, velocity refers to speed and direction. This is represented by a vector, and in our case Roblox’s Vector3 type since this is 3D space. Force causes acceleration, also known as a change in velocity. The longer a force is applied, the more acceleration is applied. More force is needed to accelerate a heavier object to the same speed.

How Linear Velocity works? - Scripting Support - Roblox
While experimenting with a Linear Velocity, I found a strange things that I can’t explain to myself. First one: When you put Linear Velocity into random part in your workspace, it will be still affected by physics: let’s imagine it’s is going right with velocity and there’s a cliff. The part will fall down. When you put Linear Velocity into HumanoidRootPart of a character from that ...

i am making a custom movement system with linearvelocity, i found this tutorial on youtube and decided to implement it but it’s too slidey for my liking, i want the little slide once the player stops moving but when the player is turning it’s like sliding on ice, which i don’t really like local linearVelo = Instance.new("LinearVelocity", rootpart) linearVelo.Attachment0 = rootAttachment ...

How to make a Linear Velocity Movement System - Roblox
How this works., This works by getting the players move direction and applying velocity from that move direction to move the player. Vector3.new(-1, 0, 1) * PLANE_SPEED This includes the move direction and the “PLANE_SPEED” to determine the velocity. 2. Creating the script., This will be a local script created in StarterCharacterScripts First define our initial variables. local ...

Roblox could have at least made constraints like linear velocity just as good, but instead they are slower yet deprecated items are faster in some cases like body movers.

Linear Velocity not working as intended - Roblox
Linear velocities are a little different than they may seem. They essentially add a concrete velocity to a part that doesn’t decelerate. So when a linear velocity changes direction, instead of setting the part’s velocity instantly to the new velocity it adds the new velocity unto the old one.

Issue with linear velocity - Scripting Support - Roblox
Hey! You can use the VelocityConstraintMode property of the linear velocity to Plane so it will only work in 2 directions that are the x and y axis (not to be confused by the actual y axis in Roblox, this is the y axis for a Vector2 which may also be the z axis in terms of Roblox). This way, the velocity will not push the character inside the ground! Do note that you would need to property ...
